The Issue
The authorizing legislation for the SBIR/STTR programs is set to expire on September 30, 2022. This program is of vital importance to many of our nascent and small life sciences and tech companies. Any disruption to the program imperils research programs, delays scientific discovery, and upends the activities of the agencies providing the funding.
IHIF is asking our members, partners, and friends of the Forum to join us in sending a letter to the members of Indiana’s federal congressional delegation urging both houses of Congress to act as soon as possible to extend the SBIR/STTR legislation.
If you have received SBIR/STTR funding in the past, hope to receive it in the future, or if you work with products that have been developed with the aid of these programs, we encourage you to add your voice to the call for reauthorization. The sign-on period will run through July 29, 2022. A final copy of the letter will be shared with all signatories. Membership in IHIF is NOT a requirement to participate.
We also encourage you to contact your federal legislators and share why the SBIR/STTR program is important to your efforts.
